The Defining Ten with...Jon Slade (Huggy Bear/ Comet Gain)
The Defining Ten is where an artist/creative is invited to take us on a musical dot-to-dot journey of the tracks that led them to who they are today. These could be the first song they have a memory of, first purchase, first song they learnt to play, the track that opened doors, the track that closed doors, a track that inspired and led to a new musical direction – so expect a variety of tracks from themselves and other artists. These tracks will be played in turn – either from vinyl, CD or streamed – and discussed with the artist.
On Thursday 26th September we bring Jon Slade of Huggy Bear and Comet Gain to discuss the 10 songs which have defined his diverse career.
Jon Slade is a musician, artist and DJ renowned for his work with Riot Grrrl love rock troublemakers Huggy Bear, DIY soul troubadours Comet Gain, and numerous underground rock and club projects spanning four decades.
In recent times he has played in Minimalist punk layabouts Snoozers (on hiatus) and his current musical venture Unmarry Me have attempted to carve out joy and light from electrical pulses with releases on Errol’s Hot Wax, Happy Soul and Bruit Direct disques. A collection of writings is currently planned for publication in the near future.
After discussing the 10 songs which have defined his career, Jon will be treating us to a short special stripped back performance.
The event takes place at the Cellar Arts Club, Marine Parade (off Prospect Place) in Worthing.
